Weeknote 127

Le Tour trip and flying out to the Med

  • Making up for last week's absence—I was in France for the Tour! My friend Luis and I caught the opening two stages as the race passed through Cassel and Douai. Between the grim weather, cobble destroyed cleats, road closures, and SNCF trains unfriendly to bikes, following the action demanded more flexibility and compromise than we'd planned for.
  • Taking our bicycles on the ferry and trains in both Belgium, where we stayed, and across to France was somewhat of an undertaking. Next time renting a car for at least parts of following the race might be easier.
  • Back home I’ve successfully updated my website with a little help from Copilot to fix code issues and tidy up somethings that hadn’t been changed in five years.
  • Thursday I was once again off to Central Europe, this time to Southern Spain to visit Málaga with Mena. Despite being the same thirty degrees as in London, things have felt somewhat more fresh here by the Mediterranean.
  • Enjoying fresh local food including prawns, octopus and also lobster in nearby Nerja.
  • Somewhat less fresh has been our Airbnb air conditioning which I discovered was entirely clogged with dirt and barely functioning . Half an hour later having removed and cleaned the filters, it was once again cooling us down from the high temperatures outside.

Algo en español

  • El sábado nadé en el agradablemente fresco Mediterráneo y disfruté de un paseo por el Museo Picasso.
