Weeknote 129
Back to work, weekend ride & near fall at Haslemere
- Back to work on Monday after my holiday, and predictably, I was greeted by a bunch of Slack messages and emails waiting to be responded to. Thanks to the higgledy-piggledy transition from Google to Microsoft, I’m now juggling two separate mailboxes and calendars across Mac and a virtual Windows machine.
- The weekend weather held up fairly well, so I headed out cycling across the South Downs with a stop at Cadence Cocking for cake and coffee. Getting there via train I nearly took a tumble down the steep staircase at Haslemere station, bike in hand, but managed to grab the handrail just in time without damaging the bike, or me!
- Super sad to see the final Tour de France broadcast on UK free-to-air TV. After more than a decade of faithfully tuning in on ITV, it’s disheartening to see the Tour de France vanish behind TNT's subscription paywall—stripped of the distinctive presentation style that only Gary Imlac and his team could deliver. Capitalism at its finest—or worst.
- Happy to see England’s women’s football team win the European Championship on Sunday after going to penalties. I don’t usually follow football, but a cheering way to spend Sunday evening.
