Champions meetup, Sigur Rós at RAH, Latin food at Seven Sister

  • As October began, on Thursday I attended the annual in‑person Champions of Accessibility meetup, hosted by Skyscanner in their sleek new Tottenham Court Road office. The evening centred on imposter syndrome, followed by a series of lightning talks from the community. It was great to reconnect with familiar faces, though I sometimes feel my autistic tendency to struggle with long conversations means I’m not remembered as well from past events.
  • On Friday, I joined Mena for Sigur Rós at the Royal Albert Hall. The venue was a perfect match for their sound, and it was a treat to hear the organ used to its full potential.
  • Sunday brought a rare appearance from me at the Homebrew Website Club, now running in a new weekend slot in addition to weekly on Wednesdays. The discussions on websites and tools to improve them were good, and it was encouraging to see such a diverse group still attending after all these years, from across Europe. I’m glad the community has gone from strength to strength since I stepped back from organising, and I hope to join again next month.
  • For lunch on Sunday, Mena and I visited the newly re‑opened Seven Sisters Market. Its focus is Latin American food stalls, and we indulged in a delicious paella followed by a doughnut filled with manjar.
Collage of three photos from Seven Sisters Market: entrance with stalls and produce outside; lively indoor scene with flags, people, and red stalls; and a close-up of seafood paella with shrimp, mussels, lemon wedge, and bread.
