Weeknote 79

Stuck back at home

  • This week I was back at home mostly recovering after my trip and spent most of it trying not to walk much to help heal my foot from the previous week's surgery. It's likely to take a few weeks to recover fully, so feeling rather miserable stuck at home and feeling a burden on Ximena to take care of me.
  • I did make it out of the house briefly to visit a Design Systems meetup in the city hosted at the Just Eat headquarters. Overall a great event predominantly which was focused on designing for accessibility. It brought back happy memories of pre-pandemic days when there were an abundance of such meetups. I also bumped in to Rob I remembered from Brunel Uni. He now works as a designer for Deliveroo, so it was quite funny to see him visiting the home of his main competitor!
  • On Sunday desperate to get out, I slowly hobbled over to Acton, West London, by bus and tube for a rare opportunity to see inside the London Transport Museum Depot. The place was full of kids, their families and enthusiasts and there was a queueing system in place for certain exhibition areas. I passed on the opportunity to buy some surplus and scratched station signs from the Elizabeth Line for £50 or a scrap of London Transport seat moquettes for £25!
