Weeknote 122

Another long-weekend and river commuting

  • Following last week's successful presentation on accessibility, I caught up with my career mentor in Epsom on Tuesday for a chat and to hear about his exciting new role heading accessibility for a very well-known corporation.
  • Besides a few short-haul trips around Europe this summer by ferry or flights, I've also just booked my next long trip to Peru and Chile for Christmas and the New Year. Looking forward to further planning that!
  • Over the long weekend I cycled over to Syon Park before a visit to Putney's Dynamo cafĂ© for lunch whilst it wasn't too busy midday on Friday.
  • With some time to spare on Friday, I took a leisurely route via the Thames Clipper ferry to central London from nearby Wandsworth to Embankment. Albeit a bit pricey, it makes for a relaxing, scenic way to travel.
  • Over the weekend, I also met up with a friend to see some stand-up comedy in the afternoon at the newly opened Soho Theatre in Walthamstow, after grabbing lunch at Sodo Pizza.
  • We spent the rest of the day wandering through the area around Tottenham on our way to a Colombian/Peruvian restaurant for dinner. We passed a mix of scenic waterside spots and grimier urban stretches, all while dodging a phone thief on an electric bike and other unsavoury characters in that area.
  • On TV and streaming, I've been enjoying the latest season of Race Across the World. I'm also keeping up with the Giro d'Italia highlights, which are thankfully free to view again this year.
